AmeriCorps Volunteers Assist with Trail Clean Up

As part of Parsons Spring Clean-Up Week, a group of five AFHA AmeriCorps members picked up trash along the Allegheny Highlands Trail between Hendricks and Hambleton on Tuesday.  Local youth groups will be cleaning up four other sections of the trail this week, making the whole stretch from Moore to Hendricks look pristine for springtime.

It was a beautiful day to be out on the trail.  The volunteers filled more than a dozen 30-gallon trash bags with debris, most of it evidently tossed from Route 72.  Finds ranged from the usual cans and bottles to a car chassis, a deer call, and a plastic party mask.

Many thanks to the volunteers who came out this morning and those who will continue the clean-up throughout the week!
